Adam’s Story
Background
When 44-year-old Adam, a full-time wheelchair user, first used the EzyGain ema® treadmill at the beginning of 2025, he could only stand with full support and walk five metres using parallel bars with the assistance of one therapist.
Lorna Saunders, Specialist Neurological and Paediatric Physiotherapist at the Stoke-based Positive Steps Physiotherapy Clinic, had been working with Adam for many years to slow deterioration and improve his strength and stamina. However, Adam was unable to access standard treadmills, limiting his therapy options.
The Turning Point
The arrival of the EzyGain ema® treadmill from Atelier Rehab marked a major breakthrough. Its unique design allowed Adam to wheel himself onto the treadmill using the integrated ramp. Once in position, the safety harness system enabled him to move from a sitting to a standing position comfortably and begin his walking therapy session.
Progress and Results
The EzyGain ema®’s fall-prevention harness gave Adam the confidence to push his limits safely. Over time, he progressed from walking just a few metres to walking for five minutes without stopping — a remarkable achievement.
Adam’s progress demonstrates how innovative rehabilitation technology can transform therapy outcomes. The EzyGain ema® has enabled him to achieve walking goals that were previously out of reach, improving both his physical ability and confidence. ways.
